Delhi University has increased the weightage to the sports trial in the admission of 2017. Initially the University use to give equal weightage to the marks and sports trial.
The sports trial and sports certificates used to get 50% by Delhi University but now 60% for the sports trial and 40% for marks will be given. This shows that Delhi University Sports Committee is planning to give more importance to the sports trial applicant.
Under Delhi University each college cannot take more than 5% in every course for the sports and extra curriculum activities.
The Delhi University admission community is planning to conduct sports specific physical fitness rather than common physical fitness test.
The student who wants to take the admission for the Delhi University needs to clear the fitness test then only they are allowed to take the sport’s trial.
Delhi University member of admission community said, “We used to have a common physical fitness test for all students despite them applying for different sports. Every sport requires different kind of physical strength. So this time, we are planning to conduct sport-specific fitness test.”
Direct admission will be given to those candidates who have represented the country in Olympic, World Cup, Commonwealth Games and World championships or may be in Asian Games. Such applicant will be allowed directly without the trial.
The candidate needs to secure 30% marks in the trial to be eligible for the admission. At time of trial the colleges under the Delhi University needs to record video to prevent the malpractices.
All this shows the admission in the colleges of Delhi University under the sport quota will be less easier from this academic session as the admission community planning to allot 60% to the trail applicant. The dates are yet to be finalized.
